Host of the hit Seven reality singing show, Luke Jacobz, confirmed the quartet will again make up the judging panel as auditions for the Channel 7 series kick off in Melbourne next week.

“It’s the same - Nat, Dannii, Foo and Ronan,” Jacobz told Confidential at the Free View event at Parliament House.

“It’s a great mix. They all have history, they’ve got experience and they know what’s going on so it should be an interesting series.”

Jacobz added that producers will freshen up the format a little.

“There’s going to be some twists,” he said, stopping short of confirming what they would be.

“It will be different from the last few years. People can see how successful you can be if you win it so people are getting hungrier.”

As well as hosting The X Factor, Jacobz is also a well-known actor with his TV credits including stints on Home and Away and Blue Heelers.

But before TV beckoned, Jacobz was a tradie and says he’s not afraid to go back.

“If TV work dried up, I’d definitely return to that,” he said.

“You’ve got to pay the bills.

“I’d do building, plumbing, carpentry, anything where I can work.”

Designed to showcase the recently released Nintendo 3DS, it’s photography capabilities and its revolutionary in-built 3D screen, the event was graced by X-Factor host Luke Jacobz, TV presenter Sophie Falkiner, Jumping Crocodile Cruises owner Tony Blums and acclaimed photographer James Morgan, who all created 3DS photo diaries to give the public insight into their daily lives.

In their diaries, Luke explores behind the scenes of his TV shows; Sophie reveals her life as a mother and presenter; Tony captures the raw power of the crocodiles on his tours; and James captures a range of images, from angles of the Harbour Bridge to baby elephants at the zoo.

On hand for a quick chat during the event, X-Factor host Luke Jacobz said he considers himself to be extremely lucky to have been offered a chance to take part in such a unique event and says that he absolutely leapt at the change to be involved.

“I’m definitely a big Nintendo fan and to be involved is seriously a fantastic experience.” he said.

“My six year old nephew got a DS for Christmas last year and for days afterwards we were just on the couch together playing it. I instantly fell in love with the system and when Nintendo approached me about the 3DS photography project, I put my hand up to sign on before they’d even finished the sentence.”

On display from Luke were several images showcasing certain aspects of his private life.

“I wanted to give people a little look into my private life and let them see things they wouldn’t normally see,” Luke said.

“So in addition to the behind the scenes snippets from the X-Factor, there are some shots of me with my dog, I love my dog, a few snaps of me cooking in my kitchen and a couple of me golfing with some friends.”

“I plan on taking many more though and because the 3DS is just so compact and easy to use, I can slide it in my pocket and carry it around everywhere I go. It’s a lot of fun to play around with.”

Keen to talk all things X-Factor, Luke also spoke briefly on how things were trending for the reality TV show.

“We’ve got such a talented group of people working together here and the calibre of the contestants is just phenomenal. They’re all very competitive so things are going to get really interesting from here on out.”

“Everyone thinks the judges are the sort of people that keep themselves to themselves and expects them to be very private but it’s actually the exact opposite,” he said.

“We all have dinner together, everyone is constantly Twittering and keeping in contact. It’s just been so much fun and you really feel as though you’re part of it.”

LUKE Jacobz says he's stoked to be back for a quick stopover for The X Factor auditions.

HEARTTHROB actor Luke Jacobz is the host with the most. Luke, who made Adelaide his home while filming McLeod's Daughters a few years back, says he's stoked to be here for a quick stopover for The X Factor auditions. "Loving it, absolutely loving it," he tells Confidential.

Asked whether his current schedule - which had him stop over at AAMI stadium yesterday - allows any time for romance, Luke says: "I wish it did, because I am single."

Luke formerly dated his Dancing With The Stars partner Luda Kroitor.

They broke up last June. "But it's actually quite nice because I don't have to go anywhere if I don't want to," he says with a laugh.

"It's great. We're having steak nights with the boys but yeah, we'll see how things go. Maybe this series will connect me with some love, we'll have to wait and see how we go."

Luke's happy his work life is less frantic than it was last year.

"It's pretty busy, it's lucky because I finished up on Home and Away in February so the good thing now is that I'm not having to juggle the two like I did last year. That would have been quite hectic," he says. People had begun queueing at 9.30pm on Monday for the Channel 7 show's auditions.

"There's been a couple of people in the queue singing their few lines but I'm actually not judging so I can't put them through!" Luke says.

While Luke is currently travelling the country, it hasn't given him time to pursue a career in movies.

"I've been doing auditions and stuff for the past couple of months," he says.

"That's been great to do, but with X-Factor starting now I'm going to make sure that all my focus is on that.

"I think, though, that when you stop working as an actor or presenter your job becomes to audition."

DANCING with the Stars winner Luke Jacobz has been rushed in as host of The X Factor after Matthew Newton's departure in disgrace.

Jacobz, 29, best known to viewers as Angelo in the Channel 7 soap Home and Away, was contacted by Seven executives on Sunday night and offered the role. Newton withdrew from the gig after an altercation in Rome with his now ex-girlfriend, Rachael Taylor.

Newton flew from Rome to Dublin, where he was to film segments for the show with singer Ronan Keating.

However, he was escorted home by a producer after they decided he was in no state to film. He has since entered a treatment centre in Sydney.

Jacobz told Today Tonight of the last-minute job offer: "I went to the snow last weekend and I was heading back up the freeway ... I got a call from the network late last night (Sunday), about 10pm I suppose, and they said, 'Like you to think about something ... what about X Factor?'

"It's a big opportunity, and I feel very blessed to be on board. What I love the most about this gig is that we are going to unearth some brilliant Aussie singers, of all different ages.

"I can't wait to see the judges get fired up. I know they are a competitive bunch, so there should be plenty of fireworks each week."

Jacobz, 29, will join judges Kyle Sandilands, Natalie Imbruglia, Guy Sebastian and Keating when The X Factor begins on Monday.

Jacobz said he hoped Newton would soon get his life back on track.

"I wish him all the best and I hope I can do as good a job as he was going to do," he said.

JUST six days after the X Factor finale, host Luke Jacobz will hop on a plane in a bid to launch his acting career in the US - and already has his accommodation sorted.

Jacobz - best known here as hot cop Angelo Rosetta in Home And Away - is to follow in the footsteps of Sam Worthington, Ryan Kwanten and Joel Edgerton to name but a few and give the States a crack.

He will also give ex-co-star and good mate Chris Hemsworth a call to see if he can crash on the Thor star's couch.

His final scenes in Summer Bay are set to air soon and Jacobz is desperate to add his name to the Gumleaf mafia.

"I'm going over just to try my luck over there," he said.

"I've never had the chance to go over because I've been busy working, so this year I'm making sure I just do it."

Jacobz, who was drafted in last year to host X Factor following Matt Newton's meltdown, has already lined up auditions and digs.

"I might ring Mr Hemsworth and crash on his couch for a while," he said. The pair worked together until Hemsworth left in 2007 to carve out a Hollywood career, most noticeably in Thor.

In the meantime, Jacobz is auditioning for some other acting roles that will work in with his X Factor hosting duties. "During the live rounds you generally have the weeks free and I'm hoping to be doing a bit of work. There's talk of something happening in September," he said.

The new series of the talent quest will air on Seven later this year.

Former Home and Away actor Luke Jacobz has revealed producers made the decision to write his character Angelo out of the series because they felt they'd exhausted all storylines. Luke, 30, says he filmed his final scenes on the show earlier this year after being told Angelo's time in Summer Bay had reached an end.

"When they said the character was leaving I was upset, because I love working on the show," he says of the role he's portrayed for the past three years.

"It was really that the character had reached all the different goals that the show wanted him to, and it worked out really well with storylines having the River Boys come in so that Angelo could go."

Despite being disappointed to leave the cast and crew, including good friend Esther Anderson, who plays his former on-screen lover Charlie, Luke says he had expected to get the news eventually.

"Originally I was only supposed to be on the show for six months, so it wasn't a shock because I always knew at some stage my character would be going."

Now due to start his hosting responsibilities for the second season of The X Factor next month, Luke also cleared up reports that he was due to join the cast of Channel Seven's new colonial drama Wild Boys, saying he auditioned but missed out on a role.

"I was disappointed because I read the script and it sounded like so much fun and I'd heard whispers about different people that were going to be on the show and really wanted to work with them," he revealed.

"When you don't get a job you want, you do feel upset but then two months later you get a job that you absolutely love, so it's just the nature of the industry."

However, he remains hopeful that if the series strikes a chord with viewers, he might get a role in the future.

"It's going to be a great series and there could be characters down the track, so I might have to see if I can get myself in there!" he says.
